Greater Prince William Area is riche with history, diversity of culture, and the second-largest county in the Commonwealth of Virginia. A highly-educated, racially and ethnically diverse population makes the county one of the most globally represented communities in the region. Prince William County encompasses a total area of 348 square miles and includes independent cities and towns, state and federal park properties, and Quantico Marine Corps Base. Steeped in rich history, surrounded by beautiful parks and open space, Prince William County is a community of choice where individuals, families and businesses choose to live, work and play. The Prevention Alliance of Greater Prince William has members from all of our three jurisdictions; The City of Manassas, Manassas City Park, and Prince William which together create a population of over 500,000 residents. Prince William County was the first county in Virginia to be a proud home to a minority majority population making our area one of the most diverse communities in the Commonwealth with over 30% of the population speaking a language other than English. This community is also proud to be called home to a great number of past and present military personnel. Prince William County Public Schools serve approximately 88,930 youth from across the county with 13 High Schools and 17 Middle Schools with a teacher to student ratio of 8 to 1. The Tourism Department has recently dedicated a Stein, Vines, and Moonshine Trail while Jiffy Lube Live welcomes 25,000 music lovers at each event to its amphitheater every season. With these opportunities, and countless others, to reduce the perception of harmful drinking and marijuana use, the coalition and concerned community members have ample opportunities for prevention activities.
