Walk & Talk Wellness
“The secret to getting ahead, is getting started.”
Walk & Talk Wellness
Each spring and fall, the Prevention Coalition of Greater Prince William partners up with the Greater Prince William Trails Coalition for our Walk & Talk Wellness initiative. Walk & Talk Wellness is a simple yet powerful initiative that brings together movement and meaningful conversation to support whole-person health. Rooted in SAMHSA’s 8 dimensions of wellness, it emphasizes how physical activity—like walking—can naturally enhance emotional well-being by reducing stress, improving mood, and fostering connection. By creating a relaxed space for people to walk side by side and talk openly, this initiative nurtures both body and mind, while also strengthening social bonds and encouraging healthier daily habits.
As part of this initiative, you will find wellness messages located along various trail locations in the Greater Prince William area. There will also be periodic opportunities to attend a guided walk where you can connect with Prevention Specialists to learn about local resources, workshops, and services that can help support you on your journey to wellness. Head to one of the participating trails in May-June and again in September-October to participate. Scan the QR Codes at each trailhead to learn more and enhance your Walk & Talk Wellness experience. We hope you will take this opportunity to walk & talk about wellness!
Other Ways to Participate:
Can’t make it to a trail? That’s okay too! There are several ways that you can participate in the Walk & Talk Wellness initiative. You can participate online by posting to our community wellness board, registering for a workshop or training, requesting home safety resources, or by using our new Walk & Talk Wellness toolkit to have meaningful conversations about wellness when you set out on your own walks with your friends, family, or neighbors.
